If you’re looking for something different to do with your family, check out Zoo’opolis Exotic Petting World, formerly known as Country Chalet Farm. It’s a short drive to Columbus and this hidden treasure is tucked into the hills of Brown County so you can escape and experience something different than the norm. The country home setting may surprise you at first, but I think you’ll see how much these animals are loved and guarantee you and your kids are sure to have a memorable day. We found it so nice to explore at our own pace as this is truly a low key adventure where you’ll have the opportunity to interact with traditional farm animals and exotic animals in ways you simply don’t get the opportunity to at a typical zoo.
This unique family-friendly destination features over 100 animals, spanning more than 35 species. From the more common ducks, chickens, goats and pigs of a farm, to the extraordinary South American macaw, exotic Asian leopard bengal cats, European juliana miniature pigs, Australian bennet wallabies, a hedgehog, red raccoon, fox and a variety of pets from the reptile kingdom - you’ll have the chance to pet, hold, feed, play with and photograph so many lovable creatures.
The petting zoo is educational in many ways because you not only get to interact with the animals, but there are staff members around to answer questions and you also get to see the work that goes into keeping this place running. You’re sure to see the staff engaging in chores and taking care of the pets, as well as sharing information about each animal and helping you feel comfortable interacting with them. Additionally, there is a model train set up downstairs that’s worth the trek to the basement.
Our favorites were holding the macaw, feeling the camelion, feeding the wallaby, milking the goat and sitting on the llama - what an adventure! My boys were talking about this for days after, and still laugh about some of their animal interactions.

Please note that those with mobility issues may have a difficult time visiting without making special arrangements as some areas are steep. Strollers and wheelchairs would not be able to access this attraction.
